RESEARCH IMAGE OF THE YEAR
A single image brings research to life and can make a greater impact than a thousand words! Researchers at Göttingen Campus have already submitted their best images to the Research Images of the Year 2026 competition. This initiative, led by the Sci-Comm Network Göttingen, is an opportunity to showcase and share research here in Göttingen with a broad audience.
All fields and disciplines are welcome! Whether your work is in the natural sciences, humanities, social sciences, medicine, or any other field, we encourage you to submit an image that captures the fascinating world of your research.
There are four categories:
- Photography: Images captured through traditional or digital photography.
- Instrumental Imaging: Images produced using scientific instruments and imaging techniques, such as microscopy, telescopes or other specialized imaging methods.
- Data Visualization: Visual representations of research data, simulation, etc.
- Creative Images – Artistic, illustrative, or imaginative interpretations of research.
Submit your image until 15. December
In January 2027, submitted images will undergo a selection process combining public voting and evaluation by expert panels. Selected images will be featured in an in-person exhibition at Forum Wissen on 7 April 2027.
About the Science Communication Network Göttingen
The Sci-Comm Network Göttingen brings together researchers from all disciplines who share an interest in communicating science beyond academia.
We meet once a month in an informal setting — usually at a local bar or restaurant — to exchange experiences, explore ideas, plan SciComm activities, and support each other in developing our communication skills.
Whether you’re a beginner or already active in science communication, you’re warmly welcome to join our open and friendly community of like-minded researchers across the Göttingen Campus. What: POSTDOC SOCIAL: everyone welcome
When: Thursday 22 October from 18:00
Where: Z.a.K. restaurant, café, bar – Am Wochenmarkt 22, 37073 Göttingen (not far from the Gänseliesl, where the market used to be). See Google maps.
Other: Come to hang out with a diversity of people, grab a bite to eat or something to drink or just be. The restaurant does a range of meals and snacks, hot drinks, cocktails, beer – bring friends+. Walk & Talk Weekend Special: Welcome Winter Time!
What: Join us for a relaxed walk from the Gänseliesel in the city center to the Kehr in the city forest (around 4 km). The clocks will have changed, winter time has officially begun, and the new lecture period for winter semester starts tomorrow. What better way to spend the first day of winter time than outdoors with good company?
At our destination, coffee, refreshing drinks, ice cream and Bratwurst will be waiting for us. You can also visit the wildlife enclosure and see wild boars, deer and squirrels.
Come along, enjoy the fresh autumn air, meet new people and make the most of the extra hour!
When:Sunday 25 October at 14:00 (remember the hour changes that night!)
Meet-up: Gänseliesel Fountain, in front of the old town hall, Markt/Weender Straße, 37073 Göttingen (google maps).

Bad Weather: If the event is cancelled due to bad weather, registered participants will be notified by email by 12 noon. Last-minute updates for spontaneous participants will be shared in the WhatsApp Group.

THANK YOU to all the inspiring experts and researchers at Göttingen’s Postdoc Support and Information Fair 2026!
Over 100 experts from near and far, industry and academia, 200 attendees from across Göttingen. We just added coffee and around six m2 of pizza to spark off positive, lively connections. A special thank you to those who returned to Göttingen in 2026 to share their challenges, tips and wiggly career paths! And thanks to the teams who shared advice about careers, funding, training and more. It was great to have you, the researchers, there! Info about last year’s event is here.
The next Postdoc Fair will kick off at 14:30 on Thursday 18 March 2027. We look forward to seeing you there!
