Göttingen Campus Institute for Dynamics of Biological Networks (CIDBN)
The Göttingen Campus Institute for Dynamics of Biological Networks is a central scientific institution at Göttingen University, jointly sustained by the University, the University Medical Center and the Max Planck Institute for Dynamics and Self-Organization with participation of the Gesellschaft für wissenschaftliche Datenverarbeitung mbH Göttingen and the German Primate Center. With the CIDBN, a basis was created to expand mathematical theory building, simulation and data science at the Göttingen Campus in the field of life sciences and to promote young scientists in the field of interdisciplinary research on biological networks.
Transformative technological progress is currently opening unprecedented research opportunities to analyze collective behavior in and to decipher the evolutionary design principles of biological networks. Their active dynamics as well as their efficiency and beauty make these systems profoundly fascinating and scientifically challenging.
The mission of the Göttingen Campus Institute for Dynamics of Biological Networks is to
- advance theory-driven research into the dynamics of biological networks,
- pioneer novel research strategies integrating computational, mathematical and experimental approaches,
- to establish them by transdisciplinary research projects on the Göttingen Campus and beyond.
