Policy for posts to GC Postdoc Network
There are over 900 subscribers to the Postdoc Network mailing list and they should never be bombarded with emails or receive inappropriate information. For this reason, it is preferable to include items in the monthly Postdoc Newsletter. If you have content for the Postdoc Newsletter, please contact the Postdoc Coordinator.
A direct post is sometimes appropriate to draw the Postdoc Network’s attention to a specific issue due to its relevance to postdocs, timing or importance. The following rules apply:
- Posts must be short, clear, interesting, appropriate to postdocs
- Posts must be specifically written for the postdoc community
- Personal recommendations, requests for help or personal invites to social events from Göttingen Postdocs to other postdocs are particularly welcome
- Posts can be in German or English or both. Please consider who you are trying to reach. For instance, do not write in complicated German about an event taking place in English. Other languages may also be appropriate.
- Do not waste people’s time: if the mail is only appropriate for a sub-set of postdocs, this should be apparent immediately - in the title and first sentence of the message.
- No reminders unless it is something specially organised for the benefit of Postdocs
- Consider whether your message reads like spam and whether a different channel would get better results
- An appropriate greeting is “Dear GC Postdoc Network” or “Dear Fellow Postdocs”, rather than “Hi there”
- Posts must have a clear email signature and email contact from the sender
- It is not possible to send attachments. Please include the most important information in the text of the email and link to website/s
- The Coordinator will limit the number of posts per week as necessary
- Final decision to be made by the moderator (Postdoc Coordinator with approval/advice from GC Postdoc Committee if needed)
- Any queries to the Postdoc Coordinator
- Post directly to gc_postdoc(at)uni-goettingen.de
